Mayer Parks Keep Up With Community

Mayer has a variety of city parks, and they are changing to meet the needs of a growing community.

West Ridge Park

This park is located 1/2 block east of Highway 25 near downtown. It was graded in 2006 to accommodate a pond, dry creek bed, an open field area, and to prepare for future amenities to the park.

In spring 2007, 150 trees were planted around the perimeter of the park to provide shade and a more natural ambiance for the park’s future visitors.

In addition to all of these changes, the city has also added two newly paved 8 foot walking trails, new playground equipment for toddlers, and two new picnic tables.

Bluejay Park

Bluejay Park is a neighborhood park that resides next to County Road 23 (Bluejay Avenue), and is adjacent to the Water Treatment Plant.

The park offers full-court basketball, mature shade trees, and a picnic area.

Old Schoolhouse Park

Old Schoolhouse Park is a community park located along Carver County Road 23 (Bluejay Avenue) next to the community center.

The park includes one baseball field, three softball/little league fields, a 950-feet long paved trail that runs between Old Schoolhouse Road and Bluejay Avenue, and plenty of open space.

Old Schoolhouse Park has a concession stand and covered seating area with four picnic tables.

Meadow Park

Located 1/2 block west of Highway 25 within the Hidden Creek development, Meadow Park is a neighborhood park with several new additions to keep people of all ages entertained.

These new additions include two recently paved trail sections (totalling 920 feet), playground equipment for toddlers and older children, and a new skate park that consists of two ramps on a 30 by 50 foot concrete pad.

Meadow Park also has a wetland area and open space for other recreational activities.

Discovery Park and Trail

Fieldstone Park and the Discovery Trail are located in the Fieldstone development off of Fieldstone Parkway.

Discovery Trail is 8 feet wide, 2,750 feet long, and winds throughout the development.

Discovery Park is complete with playground equipment and features a natural landscape of trees and open spaces.
